While PC sales are in decline, sales of laptops and other handheld mobile devices are gaining ground. Laptops have a shorter life span compared to PCs several years ago and in 2010 upgrades were expected in every three years. However, due to the rapid changes taking hold in the industry, today any laptop that is older than 2.5 years considered to be obsolete.
Two of the most important features of today’s laptops include higher screen resolution and touch screen capability. Yesterday’s resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels of resolution has been replaced by enhanced 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution or higher. Newer enhanced resolutions are enabling users to pack more data and pictures onto a page, require fewer scrolls, and allow easier editing. Today you can purchase a full HD display laptop for less than what you paid for a laptop few years ago. Touch technology for laptop has been in use for several years, but the price kept many would be buyers away from the market. Today you can purchase a touch enable unit for around $250. The much anticipate Windows 10 and the existing Windows 8.1 both will work well with the touch technology. App developers are busy with more programs on touch screens.
